Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)

SPE has had continued to grow and engage the community through events on and off of the Mines’ campus. Kicking off the 2019 Fall se - mester, the Mines SPE student chapter hosted a golf tournament at Fossil Trace Golf Club in Golden, CO. This served as a great introduction to the school semester and brought together students and industry professionals on the same teams. The spirit of student and professional collaboration carried into the 2019 ATCE conference held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Mines SPE sponsored 40 undergraduate and graduate students to attend the conference which was a stunning success in terms of student involvement. Following ATCE, Mines SPE partnered with Concho Energy to host a pumpkin carving event on campus. The spring semester was unfortunately impacted by COVID-19 and the annual Mines SPE Clayshoot was cancelled, along with the Joint Session usually held with the Denver SPE Section. The last event of the Spring 2020 semester was the annual Crawfish Boil which is held in conjunction with the Mines AADE and Mines AAPG clubs. It was held the Friday before classes were cancelled and gave everybody one last chance to see each other before we all had to separate ways. If you’re interested in our fundraisers for next year, the plans are currently to host the Clay Shoot in April 2021 and get creative for this fall. If you have any interest in participating or sponsoring, please contact Nik Kadirisani at nkadirisani@mymail.mines.edu .
