Field Session I, PEGN 315 by Linda Battalora and Mark Miller

Field Session 1 is almost back to normal! While the 2020 summer field session was cancelled, and the 2021 field session had a multitude of COVID precautions, we are fortunate to report that in 2022 our students were again able to travel. This year’s exotic destination was Mid - land, Texas. We are very grateful to companies and CSM alumni for helping this year’s field session achieve our various learning objectives: seeing operators, service companies, drilling rigs, frac jobs, production and water treatment facilities. At the end of the week, we were treat - ed to an Alumni reception. Just as we had adjusted to 100 degree days in Midland, we flew back to Colorado. The weather when we landed was not just cool, but literally snowing and freezing.

We are very grateful to the following companies for hosting the field tours and sponsoring meals and to the Mines alumni and supporters that helped to facilitate the tours during our week in Midland. We especially thank ConocoPhillips, Baker Hughes, ChampionX, Liberty Oilfield Services, Tap Rock, Weatherford, Apache, Atlas Sand, CrownQuest, and Don-Nan . We also thank the Midland “M” Club, Mines Foundation, and CHEVRON for sponsoring the Alumni/Student event at the “Blue Door” on the last evening of Field Session. Overall the Field Session was a huge success, and we look forward to going back to Midland next year!
