Graduation Awards
• We have been giving out an Outstanding Graduating Senior
Award every semester for years, and this spring the PE
department has decided to recognize our outstanding
graduate students as well. Congratulations to all of our award
recipients!
° Daniel Croce, PhD
° Zachary Zody, MS
° Nicole Bourdon, BS – Spring recipient
° Sara Moravits, BS – Fall recipient
• We have a number of other graduation awards that go out
to our UG students, mostly for the spring graduates. These
include
° The Tippie award is given to a student who struggled
academically but has traits such as tenacity, resourcefulness,
an enterprising spirit and the ability to overcome adversity
that will lead to future success. This annual award went to
Zach Nobles.
° The Wright Ethics award is chosen by the graduating seniors
and this year it was Chuxuan Sun.
• Jason Zobott was named the President’s Senior Scholar
Athlete Award for the Mines’ male athletes and one of
three finalists for the Colorado Engineering Council award.

We were able to mail Nicole’s certificate ahead of time so she had it at our virtual graduation
reception.

Part of deciding the Tippie Award recipient is chance. Normally we have the name pulled from a hat, but this year
Dr. Miskimins had Nicole pick a number at random and Zach’s name was on the piece of paper with that number.
